5th Strategy

(Advantageous strategy)

趁火打劫

( Looting a house on fire )

Explaination - When you enemy is weak, that is the best time to destroy him, this will enable the strong to conquer the weak once and for all.

Historical BG - When the Emperor of Yue, Gou Jian, heard the impending attack from the state of
of Wu, Gou Jian led an army to meet against the enemy on advice by his general, but they suffered a horrible defeat at the mountain of Ji, to save the lives of his army and state, he agreed to become slave of Fu Chai, the king of Wu then.

For three years, Gou Jian, his wife and adviors and some med, served as Fu Chai's slaves, as Gou Jian looked very respectful, Fu Chai thought that he had already become a loyal subject and permitted Gou Jian to go home. Gou Jian wanted to make sue that he did not forget his dream of vengence, so he slept on a bed of straw and brushwood and tasted a piece of gall before each meal, for 10years, he gradually rebuilt his state to avenge their humiliation at the mountain of Ji.

To avoid suspicion of Fu Chai, he continued to pay homage to Fu Chai, he continued to send gold, and money under the advice of Wen Zhong, Gou Jian then even sent beautiful women to Fu Chai. Just waiting for the moment to strike.

Finally the oppotunity came, state of Wu, faced a very huge drought, and the food became insufficient for the people, then Fu Chai, under the influence of corrupt officials, executed the most loyal and intelligent advisors, Fu Chai then, also sent his best man to Huang Chi, to meet other rulers, leaving behind only the old and the weak.

Gou Jian then took this oppotunity and led an army of 50,000 and defeated the state of Wu.

Coda : Never to late, to do something. Especially when oppotunity strikes.

4th Strategy

Advantageous Strategy

以逸待劳 (Conserving energy while the enemy tires himself out)

Explaination - You do not always need to do a direct attack / wiping out, you can always practice the art of "using the mild(weak) to control the strong". To delay and exhaust enemy, and give time to strengthen your own position.

Historical BG - Lu, was anxious, as they heard that Qi were on their way to attack them, because their last battle against Qi, was a total disaster. Because of that, they looked for a Hermit* of the name Cao Gui, to aid them in the time of panic.

When asked upon the King of Lu, of what Cao Gui is planning to do about the situation, Cao Gui suggested that he go to the front saying that in a war, situations are ever changing, he was then sent to the front, along with the army.

Upon seeing the Qi's first full fletch attack, King of Lu panicked and almost demanded a direct confrontation with the army of Qi, but Cao Gui called it off, and asked them to say in defensive position, During the second wave, they stayed in defensive position. But upon the third wave, when the Qi's army soldiers were less on guard, Cao Gui ordered a full force attack upon the army of Qi, like hungry lions they rushed out of the gates and attacked the surprised army of Qi.

Therefore claiming victory, when asked upon by the King on why he stayed defensive on the first two waves of attack, Cao Gui answered "In warfare spirit is the most important, during the first wave, the spirits of the opposing party is at it's highest, but subsequently deteoriates as it goes onto the second and third wave, as they have slackened because the army feels that they could not provoke us for an attack"

3rd Strategy

(Advantageous Strategy)

借刀杀人 ( Killing with a borrowed Knife )

Explaination - This strategy works on the premise that while the enemy has clarified his stand. In this situation, the best way is to entice the alliance to destroy the enemy on one's behalf. Or in other words this strategy is also called "Harm The Bottom To Benefit The Top"

Historical BG - Confucius (孔子), was born in the state of Lu(), upon hearing that the powerful state of Qi(), was preparing to attack his homeland, he sent his gifted disciple to talk to the rulers of the surrounding states.

The Disciple first went to the state of Qi(), and pointed out to the military generals the flaws in the decision in attacking Lu(), and succesfully persuaded them to attack State Of Wu() instead, he then subsequently went to the State Of Wu() and instigated the king of Wu to attack Qi(), in order to protect Lu(). When Wu() and Qi() were in a heavy battle, he then went to the state of Jin(), to prepare the army against the weakened Wu(), Jin(), then emerged victorious thus managed to save the State Of Lu().

Coda : To every matter there is a way out, a good way out, you just have to think, and think again.

I actually wonder who really reads my strategies...

But who cares, i read em.. HAHA!...

Other then that i don't know who reads. x=

Heard from dad that we might be moving to block 221 hougang...

And to think that we used to live in block 222...

It's like back where we started or something!...

2nd Strategy

(Advantageous Strategy)

围巍救赵 (Besieging Wei To Save Zhao)

Explaination

- Instead of attacking head on, one should try to diffuse the concentration, and attack each enemy seperately, wait for perfect chance for an ambush.

Historical BG - During the period of the warring states (战国时代),  Wei() launched a full fletched attack against the State of Zhao(), in response to the plea from the Zhao ruler for assistance, King of Qi() ordered general Tian Ji to lead an army of 8000 to the rescue, the general was then contemplating for a head on confrontation with the army of Wei, but was advised by 孙膑 not to. And said "Wei's finest man are in the battle against Zhao, defence in their own capital would be weak, we would able to attack Wei's Capital with ease.

Tian Ji then took SunBin's advice, and attacked the capital of Wei which was (大梁) Da Liang, soon enough the Wei army were in a forced retreat back to their city, the army of Qi, then hid themselves along the return route to DaLiang, and ambushed the Wei's army on the way back, the Wei army was then annihilated.

Through this Qi earned not only the gratitude of Zhao, but also the fear of Wei.

Coda : Think before you act, there's always a good win win solution out there.

Or in other words the famous 36Strategies of the chinese.

So i'll be sharing a part of it everyday. =)

~~~
(Advantageous Strategy)
1st Strategy :
满天过海 ( Decieving the heavens to cross the sea)
Explaination - To create a false impression to distract the target to achieve one's goal without his knowledge.
Historical BG - Emperor Tang Tai Zhong wanted to cross the vast rough seas, but was afriad to, until Xue Ren Gui(a fellow soldier) suggested to idea to a Zhang Shi Gui(TTZ's Subject), which the plan later suceeded, with Zhang Shu Gui, stealing the total credit of Xue Ren Gui.
Coda : Take advantage, when there is a need for it.
~~~

Ughh...

Stupid throat infection!.

Woke up realising that i could not talk at all...

Only after 2 big tubs of 1Litre water, i regained my speech..

Fucking sickening...

Doctor could not even tell me what's wrong just telling me...

It's a probably a throat infection, swellage of the soft palette or infection of the lymph node...

Not cool at all...
