(Advantageous Strategy)

借刀杀人 ( Killing with a borrowed Knife )

Explaination - This strategy works on the premise that while the enemy has clarified his stand. In this situation, the best way is to entice the alliance to destroy the enemy on one's behalf. Or in other words this strategy is also called "Harm The Bottom To Benefit The Top"

Historical BG - Confucius (孔子), was born in the state of Lu(鲁), upon hearing that the powerful state of Qi(齐), was preparing to attack his homeland, he sent his gifted disciple to talk to the rulers of the surrounding states.

The Disciple first went to the state of Qi(齐), and pointed out to the military generals the flaws in the decision in attacking Lu(鲁), and succesfully persuaded them to attack State Of Wu(吴) instead, he then subsequently went to the State Of Wu(吴) and instigated the king of Wu to attack Qi(齐), in order to protect Lu(鲁). When Wu(吴) and Qi(齐) were in a heavy battle, he then went to the state of Jin(晋), to prepare the army against the weakened Wu(吴), Jin(晋), then emerged victorious thus managed to save the State Of Lu(鲁).

Coda : To every matter there is a way out, a good way out, you just have to think, and think again.
